Install the Virtual Smart Card using the Installer Executable or MSI.  The default configuration of CVSC is available in the vsc64.msi package.

NOTE: Download the installer package to the local disk, and then run the installer.  Do not run the installer directly from the browser, as this way of installing does not provide the required security settings, and may cause corruption of the installation.

This package will install both the Virtual Smart Card, Virtual Smart Card reader and the CSSI Middleware and Utility.

Run the Install MSI. If you are using a Retail version of CVSC, you will need to enter your license activation code.  For more information see: How does Licensing Work?

After installation, the required software components are installed, but no Virtual Smart Cards are created yet.

To create a Virtual Smart Card run the following with elevated rights:

vscmgr.exe -c

vscmgr.exe is a utility installed by CVSC. This utility will do the following:

Create a new Virtual Smart Card Reader (PCSC)
Create a new Virtual Smart Card
Initialize the PIN
Initialize the Administrator PIN (SO PIN/PUK)
Initialize the Admin Key

After running the vscmgr.exe utility, the Virtual Smart Card is available for use.
The default Virtual Smart Card User PIN is "11111111"
The default Virtual Smart Card Administrator PIN is "11111111"

Checking the Smart Card

Open the Device Manager control panel, and you will see a new Smart Card reader and Smart Card as follows:

The Driver Tab of the Virtual Smart Card will show the version of the VSC Driver.
